The Tennessee Valley Chapter of Wild Ones supports and recognizes local efforts that address the mission of Wild Ones.

Seeds for Education grants

Donations to our chapter, as well as proceeds from selected programs are used for our Seeds for Education grants.  SFE grants are made throughout the year to local educators interested in establishing or enhancing a school pollinator gardens.  These projects enrich the learning environment and provide aesthetic and environmental benefits.  SFE grants are part of our Chattanooga Area Pollinator Partnership initiative.

Habitat Hero Awards

The Habitat Hero Award is presented every year by the Tennessee Valley Chapter of Wild Ones to individuals, schools, churches, non-profits, community groups, businesses, municipalities and other governmental organizations.  It recognizes exemplary contributions to the cause of native plant and habitat conservation.

Previous awards have been made to:

• Wm. Whitaker & Associates (Matt Whitaker) and the Tennessee Aquarium Conservation Institute
• Avi Askey for 20 years of propagation and sale of native plants at Overhill Gardens & Nursery

• Kelly Brooks & Dan Jacobson for the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee Headquarters landscape
• Jim Mahurin & Paula Snider for the First Presbyterian Church of Franklin TN grassland prairie
• Mary Beth Sutton for the Tennessee Student Environmental Alliance (TenneSEA)

• Paola Zannini & Anita Greenwell for the Reflection Riding Greenhouse

• Lisa Lemza & Tom Carroll for the Grace Episcopal Church Butterfly and Community Garden
